Jean Poppe, MA, LPC, NBCC

“I believe every person comes into the world with the desire to grow, learn, and be in harmony with the self and others. When life is disrupted by problems that prevent a child or adult from this path, counseling can help them find their way back to a meaningful and rewarding life. Trauma comes in many forms and is one of life’s most disruptive forces. Choosing to heal from trauma is an act of courage and hope. I am honored to help in the recovery process.” Family & Children Services is proud to welcome Jean Poppe, MA, LPC, LLP to the Counseling Center at our Battle Creek location at 778 West Columbia Avenue. Jean has settled into her new practice setting and is available to take new clients on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings by appointment. Please call (269) 965-3247 to make an appointment. Jean earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with emphasis in family therapy from Western Michigan University. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Psychology. Jean completed specialized post-graduate training in sexual abuse treatment, trauma recovery, couples and family therapy, parenting, grief and loss, sexuality issues, mid-life problems and working through life transitions. She also has specific training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (DNMS). Jean has experience working with people on issues such as relationship problems, coping with divorce, losing a loved one, parenting skills, blending families following divorce, adjustment challenges in foster care, depression, anxiety and other mood disorders, along with healing from sexual abuse and other traumatic life events.
